Keep It Fresh!
Storage & Freezing Instructions for Ditty & Dough Artisan Loaves
Room Temperature Storage (2–3 Days)
Your loaf is baked fresh with simple ingredients — no preservatives — so proper storage keeps it at its best.
Store Properly:
Keep your loaf in a paper bag or lightly wrapped in a clean kitchen towel to maintain its artisan crust.
Avoid sealed plastic unless you prefer a softer crust (it traps moisture).
Tip: If you won’t enjoy the loaf within 2–3 days, move it to the freezer for optimal freshness.
Freezing Your Loaf (Best for Long-Term Freshness)
Ditty & Dough loaves freeze beautifully! Freezing preserves flavor, texture, and moisture — perfect for enjoying fresh bread anytime.
Before Freezing:
Slice Your Loaf
I highly recommend slicing the loaf before freezing.
This lets you pull out one slice at a time as needed — perfect for toast, sandwiches, or a quick snack.
How to Freeze:
Cool Completely
Make sure the loaf is fully cooled before freezing to prevent ice crystals.
Wrap Well
Wrap the whole loaf (or slices) tightly in plastic wrap or foil.
Place the wrapped loaf into a freezer-safe bag or airtight container.
Remove as much air as possible to prevent freezer burn.
Label & Date
Bread is best enjoyed within up to 3 months, though it stays safe longer.
Thawing Your Loaf or Slices
For Sliced Bread:
Remove only the slices you need.
Let them sit at room temperature for 10–20 minutes,
or pop straight into the toaster or oven.
For a Whole Loaf:
Let the loaf thaw at room temperature for 1–2 hours.
For the just-baked freshness, follow the reheating instructions:
350°F for 10–15 minutes.
